Paul Magnier has in the past 16 days won the GP de Fourmies and four stages at the Tour of Slovakia, but the winning streak does not end. The
Soudal - Quick-Step sprinter has taken the win in the first stage of the
Cro Race, winning the opening bunch sprint with a convincing display of power.
The breakaway of the day on the first stage was formed by Javier Ibañez, Diego Uriarte, Jaka Spoljar, Casper van der Woude, Michal Schuran, Mateusz Kostanski and Ian Peran. The group did put some threat on the peloton due to its size and and flat profile of the stage which made the average speed quite decent.
The arrival in Sinj was meant for a bunch sprint regardless of what would happen during the day, and the peloton was controlled by INEOS Grenadiers, Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe and Soudal - Quick-Step. The last survivors of the group survived until 6 kilometers to go, although van der Woude stuck in front a little while longer only a few meters ahead of the group. Result
It was a rather chaotic sprint with Polti and Quick-Step having men in front launching the sprint to the line which was rather technical. Magnier was the first to launch the sprint and in the high-speed arrival the Frenchman was able to hold off
Danny van Poppel and Oded Kogut.
